Harcourt, Inc. Corporate Style Guide

Client: Strategic Interactive Group (now Digitas), Boston MA

I created a Corporate Style Guide documenting the new logo and identity developed for the publishing giant, Harcourt, Inc. Strategic Interactive Group (SIG) had developed a piece of artwork and had finalized the logotype, but I had the opportunity to take it from there and develop the final logo as well as a complete system for its use.

My work on the project included:

  • logo exploration and finalization of the Harcourt logo
  • development of a complete logo system, including special versions for use at small sizes, on dark backgrounds, on book spines, etc.
  • development of stationery based on final logo
  • creation of rules for the use of the logo, including examples of "logo don'ts"
  • writing the entire style guide that describes the logo system and provides examples of its use in a variety of media (on products, in multimedia, packaging, forms, etc.)
  • designing the book itself

Table of Contents:

1. Logo Guidelines

2. Books and Products

3. Stationery

4. Forms

5. Logo Applications

6. Multimedia

7. Written Guidelines

8. Branding Toolkit
